Shortage of LPG supply rocks TP meet
The issue of irregular supply of LPG cylinders rocked the taluk panchayat meeting hall on Tuesday.
The members urged the food inspectors to rectify the process of delay in supply of LPG cylinders.
The taluk panchayat meeting was presided over by president V K Lokesh. The members said if the authorities neglect the issue, a protest demonstration would be staged in front of the department of food and civil supplies.
Members Pavithra Devendra, Suresh, Lathif and Areyur Jayanna said the consumers were forced to visit the gas agencies thrice a month to avail one LPG cylinder. Despite standing in a queue, consumers are forced to return empty-handed many a times.
The members said that the BCM hostel in the taluk lacked even basic facilities. There is a need to provide basic facilities, they urged.
BCM extension officer Mahesh said the taluk panchayat had given Rs four lakh to improve the facilities.
Nutritious food distributed to members of Jenu Kuruba community will be extended to Yarava and Soliga community members too.
BEO Ramachandra Raje Urs said the government had released Rs two crore to construct 12,000 metre compound for various government schools in the district. In Somwarpet, about 5,000 metre compound will be constructed.
