Distraught, Pawan's parents threaten to end their lives
‘Help us in bringing the body, we are unaware of formalities’
The parents of Pawan, the software engineer found dead in the United State, are a distraught lot.
“He last called me on June 15. He promised me he would marry and asked me to find a suitable girl. He said he wanted to buy a luxury car there. Now everything has vanished,”Gangaratnamma, the mother of Pawan.
The employer of Pawan informed the family members about the death on June 20. Gunasheela, the elder sister of Pawan said a person by name Praveen Joshi called in the evening and told that Pawan committed suicide.
The family members went to Cognizant in Manyata Tech Park the next day and met an officer who confirmed Pawan’s death.
Expenses unaffordable
The firm’s authorities directed the family members to make arrangements to bring the body back to India. “These people just washed their hands of and said they can’t afford the expenses of bringing the body back to India,” Anjaiah said.
“We want to bring the body back to India. We just know an arrest warrant was issued against my son. He is no more now. At least, help us in bringing the body as we are completely unaware of the formalities to be completed,” P Anjaiah, father of Pawan, said.
The family members went to the office of External Affairs Minister S M Krishna and sought the help of the officials there. They contacted the authorities of Cognizant HR in the United States, who said they were not aware of the incident.
Agricultural family
Anjaiah and Gangaratnamma brought up Pawan with much difficulty as theirs was an agricultural family. Pawan worked in a hotel at Pavagada for sometime while in class VII.
Due to personal problem, Anjaiah had to quit his job in Social Welfare Department and return to Pavagada.
He had completed his SSLC with distinction and joined a private pre-university college. He passed PU with distinction. It was his dream to get through civil service exams, but his parents forced him to seek a career in information technology.
He joined Saptagiri college of engineering on Hesaraghatta Road completed BE in Electronics. Congnizant selected him in a campus recruitment drive.
The parents have threatened to commit suicide in front of the Cognizant office here if nothing happens in a couple of days.
