Cash-for-bail judge in police custody
A designated court in Andhra Pradesh sent suspended CBI special Court Judge T Pattabhirama Rao to two days’ police custody here on Friday.
The tainted judge allegedly took a bribe and granted bail to mining baron Gali Janardhana Reddy.
Rao will be interrogated from 11 am till 5 pm at Kothi and then taken back to the Cherlapalli Jail. The court, however, asked the ACB to provide medical aid to Pattabhirama Rao as he had complained about his health.
The ACB hopes to match the versions of Pattabhirama Rao and his Ravichandra, who is also in the agency’s custody, during the interrogation. The ACB in fact sought at least three days’ custody for Pattabhi . The court has already sent Ravichandra and Chilakaluripet Sessions Judge T Chalapathi Rao to ACB’s custody. The ACB also arrested a rowdy sheeter Yadagiri who allegedly brokered the multi-crore deal.
The ACB in Andhra Pradesh on June 9 booked eight people in the cash-for-bail case, including Janardhana Reddy’s brother Somasekhara Reddy and Suresh Babu both legislators from Karnataka, and close relative Dasaratharami Reddy.
