Council bypoll on July 25

A by-election to the Karnataka Legislative Council will be held on July 25 to fill the casual vacancy occurred following the death of a sitting member V S Acharya on February 14 this year.
A decision to this effect was taken by the Election Commission of India. A formal notification of the bypoll will be issued on July 7, a statement from the ECI said on Friday.
The commission has fixed July 14 as last date for filing nominations and July 18 for the withdrawal of candidature.
The polling will be held on July 25 between 9 am and 4 pm and the counting of votes will be taken up later in evening same day. The poll process will be completed on July 26, the ECI added.
