<p>Eight peacocks died after consuming food grains laced with poison in Hulikatti village of Shiggaon taluk, on Friday.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The incident occurred when the peacocks from the sanctuary in Bankapur came in search of food at a field owned by Fakkira Gowda. He had apparently sprayed poison on the germinated seeds in order to avoid animals and birds from grazing on them.<br /><br /> The villagers suspect that apart from those which died many other peacocks also might have eaten the grains. The forest officers and veterinary doctors arrived at the spot for examination. <br /><br />Range Forest Officer R S Nagashetty promised suitable action after investigation. He said a complaint will be filed against Gowda.</p>
