Delhi government would continue subsidy on limited consumption of power, chief minister Sheila Dikshit said.

Addressing a district-wise eight-day bhagidari workshop at the Talkatora stadium here on Friday, the chief minister added that the government has been able to meet around 5,400 MW power demand successfully which reflects that there would not be any problem in power supply in future.

“Government would like to continue subsidy on limited consumption of power. This will help in power conservation and to overcome wasteful power consumption.

A decision to grant subsidy will be taken in the Cabinet meeting,” said Dikshit referring to the recent tariff hike.

Chief minister said Delhi is the only city which provides uninterrupted power and added that it will pay due attention to ensure quality of power.

Recently, Dikshit had asked people to approach the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission with any doubt on the power tariff hike.

She had said that the state government had no role in fixing the tariff. According to her, consumers can also approach the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission.

However, her political opponents had accused her of not taking care of the interest of people in Delhi.
