Door-to-door survey begins for special kids

The Directorate of Education has completed the first phase of the survey being conducted by the government to identify differently abled children in Delhi.

It has now started a door-to-door survey, beginning Monday, and is likely to complete it by July 14.

Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, department of education, Delhi is trying to find out how many children with special needs are still out of school.

“There are several special children who are not able to go to school. We have taken help from an NGO to identify and train these children for at least a year and help them to get admission in schools,” said a senior DoE official.

The department has issued a circular asking people to cooperate with the surveyors and also provide such information by calling on 011-23810361.

They  can  also send details at two email ids — spd_delhi@rediffmail.com and iedc09@gmail.com.

Also, the department is in the process of hiring at least two special educators for children with disabilities.

As many as 926 posts of special educators have already been created by the department to address the needs of such students in government schools.
