Chilling times

Film aficionados can look forward to screening of three Pakistani horror films at Khoj International Artists’ Association. Three Pakistani horror films – Zinda Laash (1967), Zibahkhana (2007) and Aurat Raaj (1979) will be screened. Apart from the these, a documentary titled Mondo Macabro: Horror and Fantasy in South Asia will also be shown during the day.

For Cineastés

An English film Bridesmaids will be screened. The story is about a competition between a maid of honor and a bridesmaid, who is also the bride’s best friend, threatens to upend the life of an out-of-work pastry chef. Entry is free and seating on first come-first-serve basis. Carry a photo id card. Venue: American Center, 24, Kasturba Gandhi Marg on 6th July 6pm. Time: 6:00 pm.

Documentary

Presenting Sunrise/Sunset - a film screening as part of films on Spirituality and Faith series. A day in the life of The Dalai Lama, takes the viewer through the spiritual leader’s routine through his morning fitness routine, private audiences, press conferences and blessings he imparts every day. The fi­lm­­makers covered topics related to the essence of the Universe, the gap between rich and poor, and the role of the individual in religion and in contemporary society. Venue: IIC on 6th July. Time : 6:30 pm. Entry free and seating on first-come first-served basis.

Cinematic

Lightcube Film Society presents ‘Dr. Mabuse – Der Spieler (Dr. Mabuse – The Gambler) - II’ film screening. Venue: Kunzum Cafe on July 7. Time: 7 pm.  

From Italy

Presenting Nuovomondo (The Golden Door), an Italian film that will be screened with English subtitles. Venue: Italian Centre, Chanakyapuri on 4th and 7th July. Time: 6:30 pm on July 4th and at 2:00 pm on 7th July. Entry is free and seating on first-come first-served basis. Note: Must carry a photo identity card.

Saify Naqvi presents photography exhibition ‘Voyages’. Voyage is a journey that takes many shapes and forms- spiritual, physical, outward, inward. There is only one prerequisite for a voyage to commence – Break the Mould. When a mould is broken, a journey begins almost as if by magic; the vacuum created by the broken mould will absorb you and transport you to places never seen, heard or experienced before. Play-acting

Presenting Bombay Talkies, an English Play about eight monologues that make up “Bombay Talkies”, they are a humorous and poignant comment on life today in the Maximum City. Venue: Epicentre, Sec-44, Gurgaon on 7th and 8th July. Time: 7:30 pm. Entry tickets are available at Rs 750 and Rs 500 at the venue. Also one can book tickets online through BookMyShow.

Historical enactment

Pierrot’s Troupe’s Festival of historical plays titled Histruly Yours. Venue: Shri Ram Centre from July 14 to 22. Sons of Babur on July 14 and 21, 7:30 pm. K L Saigal on July 15, 7: 30 pm and Maulana Azad on July 22, 7pm.

Dramatic narration

A dramatised reading of ‘The Revolution and Other Stories’ based on the book by Vinay Capila will engross listeners. The readings will be spearheaded by author, Sunit Tandon, Bhaskar Ghose, Ranjit Mathur and Indu Ramchandani. The session will be chaired by Dr Kavita A. Sharma, director, IIC.
