All set for prez polls tomorrow
Preparations are in full swing at State secretariat, Vidhana Soudha, the venue for the presidential elections scheduled to be held on July 19.
Voting will take place between 10 am and 5 pm and 223 MLAs can exercise their franchise.
With the acceptance of Kundapur legislator Haladi Srinivasa Shetty’s resignation, there is one vacancy in the 224-member Assembly. Nominated member cannot vote in presidential elections. While, Members of Parliament need to cast their vote in New Delhi they can vote in their respective states after getting the required clearance from the Election Commission of India.
Of the 40 MPs from the State (28 Lok Sabha and 12 Rajya Sabha) nine MPs have sought permission to vote in Bangalore, official sources said.
They include H D Deve Gowda, S M Krishna, H D Kumaraswamy, Rama Jois, Ayanur Manjunath, B Y Raghavendra, Siddesh, Sanna Fakirappa and N Cheluvarayaswamy.
Counting of all votes will take place in Delhi on July 22.
