Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute (BMCRI) and RV College of Engineering, Bangalore, have once again emerged as the first priority of CET toppers wishing to study medicine and engineering respectively.

As Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) published results of real allotment of seats under the admission round late Tuesday evening, it emerged that all seats under General Merit (GM) in BMCRI were lapped up by students ranked till 126.

The second most competitive category is 3A General in which the cut-off rank is 187, followed by GM-Kannada (256) and GM-Rural (426).

Mysore Medical College is the second most sought-after college where the cut-off rank under GM is 300, followed by Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences (Kims, Bangalore, (354), Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, (357), and M S Ramaiah Medical College, Bangalore, (428).

The competition seems to be even fiercer in RVCE where all GM seats in Electronics and Communication (E&C) were taken by those ranked till 107. Computer Science is the next most preferred stream in the popular college with a GM cut-off rank of 189.

Mechanical is the next most sought-after branch in RVCE where a GM cut-off is 322. Interestingly, the competition has only heated up in Bangalore’s most famous engineering college compared to last year when the cut-off rank for a GM seat in E&C was 396, that in CS 408 and mechanical 583.

PES Institute of Technology (PESIT) comes next in the most preferred engineering college list. Here, the cut-off rank for a GM seat in E&C is 202 and CS 400. BMS College of Engineering, Bangalore is the third most desired college. An E&C seat under GM quota is impossible for a student ranked below 396 and a CS seat for those ranked below 612.

M S Ramaiah Institute of Technology (MSRIT) seems to be the fourth most sought-after college.

For a GM seat in E&C here, a student’s rank should be at least 692.

A CS seat under GM quota would be impossible for a student ranked below 1,053.
