Bison poaching; one held in Periyapatna

Forest department has arrested a person who was involved in poaching wild bison along with the mutilated parts of the carcass of the bison.

The accused has been identified as Chandra of Lakshmipura. It is said that he along with Nata, Kitta, Eesha and Siddalinga of Chowthi village had entered the forest for hunting and had shot a wild bison aged about six years. 

They were returning with the mutilated carcass when the forest department employees under the guidance of M H Chinnappa raided and arrested Chandra. The other four escaped from the spot. Parts of the bison’s carcass were seized and the culprit has been remanded to judicial custody.
