Chief minister talks tough

Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar on Sunday said the State government has taken the incident of assault on girls and boys at a resort in Mangalore allegedly by Hindu Jagarana Vedike seriously and promised stringent action against the culprits without any hesitation.

In the wake of criticism from all quarters, the chief minister held the meeting at the home office “Krishna.” He is learnt to have directed the officials to take tough steps against those who create unrest in society.

Speaking to reporters after holding a meeting with Home Minister R Ashoka and top police officials, he said all those involved in the incident have been arrested. 

“If somebody is indulging in rave party or consuming alcohol or indulging in any illegal activity, the police will take action. The government will not allow anybody to take law into their hands. Steps will also be taken to ensure that such incidents do not recur. It is an inhuman act,” he said.
