Madhura has quite a few accomplishments
Bangalore girl, Madhura K Nagendra, the gate-crasher who accompanied the Indian contingent at the opening ceremony of the London Olympics has achieved notoriety overnight.
The 25-year-old was due to perform Bharatanatyam at the Games. She is a graduate of science in communications from Christ College.
After graduation, Madhura had worked as a software engineer at a private company in Bangalore. She had also worked as a Bharatanatyam instructor at Chiguru Dance Academy and as an anchor with a regional television channel.
As per her profile, she had trained under the guidance of senior guru, Karnataka Kala Tilaka Guru T S Bhatt, founder director of the Menaka Nritya Shaala. Conferred with the title of ‘Naatya Mayuri’ by Markandapuram Sreenivasa, Director of Directorate of Kannada and Culture, she is also a recipient of the State-level Golden Star award, Karnataka Kala Ratna, Nritya Ratna and Vishwa Chetana titles. According to her, she has won over 110 state-level awards.
In 2009, for her outstanding individual achievements and distinguished services, she had been conferred with the Rashtriya Rattan Award, a national honour.
London connection
Madhura had been studying for an MBA at the London School of Business and Finance.
In her profile, she described herself as ‘a very bouncy, lively, cheerful, confident, talented and amiable juvenile lass.” She has also noted that “I'd like to see the invisible and achieve the impossible and that’s because I’m capable.”
