Friendship Day turns tragic for student
A first year BCA student of PESIT was killed when the bike he was riding collided head on with a truck near Hosur in Tamil Nadu on Sunday.
Son of Girija and Ramamurthy, residents of M C Layout in Vijayanagar, Abhishek, 20, was on his way to Pachapalli Dam (20 km from Hosur), along with friends, to celebrate Friendship Day. The group of 60 had embarked on a picnic at 6 am.
Four hours later, when they had just crossed Hosur, Abhishek, in a bid to avoid a pothole, moved to the extreme right of the road. A truck (AP-29-TA-7194) coming from the opposite direction hit the bike (KA-02-HQ-7996), killing him on the spot. Abhishek’s body was taken to the Hosur Medical Hospital for post mortem. The police arrested the truck driver and seized the vehicle. However, they have not found anything conclusive on whether the truck was speeding.
