JSS Rudset bags prestigious award
The central government presented the ‘A Plus’ award for outstanding Rudset institute in the country to JSS Rudset, Chamarajanagar, at a programme in New Delhi recently. Union Minister for rural development Jairam Ramesh gave away the award to JSS CEO Shekar and head Veerendra Heggade.
Addressing a media conference here on Wednesday, JSS Rudset technical advisor Prof Dhananjaya said the institute was chosen among more than 500 other similar institutions for the award. He said JSS Rudset was founded in 2001 to provide employment to unemployed youth. JSS Mahavidyapeeta in association with State Bank of Mysore had established the centre 5 km away from Chamarajanagar in Mariyala.
More than 19,000 youth have been provided skill development training programme in tailoring, beautician, repair of two-wheeler, mobile and pumpsets.In order to support illiterate women, training programme in handicrafts was also started in 2005. He said more than 250 women are working at present and several others are undergoing training in graphic designing. JSS Rudset CEO Shekar, project officer Chandrashekar and State Bank of Mysore manager Mallikarjuna were present.
