Kareena, Hema prominent faces on ramp at LFW
Bollywood made its presence felt yet again at the recently-concluded Lakme India Fashion Week with several beauties attending the gala and walking as showstoppers for designers, with Kareena Kapoor and Hema Malini being the prominent faces during the event.
The Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012 season saw as many as 86 designers showcasing their best collections.
Biggies like Wendell Rodricks, Neeta Lulla, Anita Dongre, and Ritu Beri will be on show, while Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Narendra Kumar, Rohit Bal, Rocky S, Vikram Phadnis, Manish Malhotra won’t be seen.
This year, the only big name was of Kareena Kapoor walking the ramp for emerging designers Kallol Datta and husband-and-wife duo Pankaj and Nidhi.
First for Kallok, Kareena wore a black and white snail print hoodie tunic with leggings and for Pankaj and Nidhi she was seen in a cutwork high collar tasselled tunic and black tights. She looked gorgeous in both the outfits.
The other prominent celebrity on ramp was veteran actress Hema Malini dressed up as Radha for ace designer Neeta Lulla performed a short Kathak dance, accompanied by a male dancer in the avatar of Krishna. Hema Malini looked fabulous in a dark purple lehenga choli and light purple net dupatta embroidered in gold.
Looking graceful in a light rich ivory brocade sari with traditional rudraksh designs embroidered all over it and a pink kajeeveram blouse, Kirron Kher walked the ramp for Gaurang Shah as the showstopper.
Then the 'Gangs Of Wasseypur' actress Richa Chadda turned up her charm in a quirky Debarun layered ghagra as she showstopper for the young designer.
Her co-actress from the same film, Huma Qureshi sashayed down the ramp wearing a draped black lace dress and a gold bolero in designer Atithi Gupta’s creation, with her aviator shades.
British model-turned-actress Amy Jackson went desi as the showstopper for fashion designer Pernia Qureshi's show in a sequinned black sari.
For Archana Kochhar, actress Sameera Reddy walked the runway in a beautiful sari during the fashion week.
Actor Abhay Deol's Model-actress girlfriend Preeti Desai turned into a splendid bride as she was the showstopper for renowned designer Anita Dongre.
Apart from walking the ramp, several B-town actors were a part of the audience, sitting in the front row cheering for their friends.
Karan Johar came with mother Hiroo for supporting designer Anushka Khanna, Ameesha Patel, Shruti Hassan, Celina Jaitley came for Neeta Lulla's show. Neha Dhupia came in for veteran designer Pallavi Jaikishan.
Aditya Pancholi, Poonam Dhillon, Kunal Kapoor, director Punit Malhotra, Tusshar Kapoor, Arjan Bajwa, model-turned-actress Esha Gupta of 'Jannat 2' fame, Anil Kapoor's producer daughter Rhea, actress Poorna Jagannathan of 'Delhi Belly' fame, Vidya Malvade of 'Chak De' and others also turned up during the five-day Lakme Fashion Week held here.
