Last Updated 10 August 2012, 06:03 IST

Venture capital firm Accel Partners will invest close to $1 million in Mind Edutainment, a company that develops and provides solutions to improve social and emotional thinking skills among school-going children.

A source with direct knowledge of the deal said that the investment would be in the form of early stage or seed funding. Accel, presently, is said to be fine-tuning the deal.

The company, headed by Ashutosh Khurana, has been building thinking development programmes for school children in the form of a venture called ‘My Thinking Programme’.

“We always felt the need for a programme that would have some specific component targeted at the development of thinking abilities among children,” said Mind Edutainment Co-Founder and CEO Khurana.

Mind Edutainment provides services to schools in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttaranchal, Chandigarh and Delhi NCR.

Earlier, the company had received funding from the Department of Science and Technology and individual angel investors. Companies which Accel Partners has invested in include Flipkart and some others.
