Two children aged two and a half years died of diarrhoea and two others became ill at an anganwadi centre at Rajajinagar in Hospet, allegedly due to the vaccination against diseases, on Wednesday night.

Sandhya and Suhan are the dead and nine months old Faizan and one-and-a-half years old Srinivas, are recovering at the Vims Hospital in Bellary and a private hospital in Hospet, respectively.

The children were given DPT and Mijols vaccination, after which they complained of diarrhoea. As their condition worsened at night they were admitted to a government hospital. Sandhya and Suhan died in the hospital. Srinivas has been admitted to a private hospital. Faizan was taken to Bellary for further treatment.

Hundreds of people held a protest in front of the government hospital against the negligence by the doctors. They sought action against the department that supplied the vaccines and compensation to the families of the dead. Police had to intervene and take control of the situation.
