Cancel legislators' junket: KPCC chief

Last Updated 12 August 2012, 18:44 IST

KPCC president G Parameshwar said on Sunday Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar should not give permission to legislators to go on foreign tour in view of the prevailing drought.

“It is not proper to go on foreign tour when people are suffering. While many parts of the State are reeling under drought, some places are facing floods. The chief minister should not allow them (legislators) to go on tour,” he told reporters.

About 50 legislators, both MLAs and MLCs, who are members of various standing committees of the State legislature, are preparing to go on a foreign junket this month end.

Former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa too has said the legislators should not go on tour.
On the war of words between former chief ministers, D V Sadananda Gowda and Yeddyurappa, the KPCC chief said political leaders should desist from making personal attacks while criticising their rivals. But the two BJP leaders had crossed all limits.
