Last Updated 16 August 2012, 13:58 IST

The Karnataka High Court today stayed proceedings for three weeks against Higher Education Minister C T Ravi and others in connection with a private complaint in a lower court accusing them of securing civic amenity sites and multiple housing sites in Chikmagalur.

Hearing a criminal petition filed by Ravi seeking quashing of the proceedings against him and others before the Lokayukta court, Justice V Jagannathan granted a three week stay.

On July 17, the High Court had granted anticipatory bail to Ravi and three others in connection with the complaint accusing them of abuse of official power for "pecuniary gain".

Justice Jagannathan had granted anticipatory bail to Ravi, his wife, sister and brother-in-law on the condition that they have to furnish a personal bond of Rs two lakh each and two sureties for like sum.

Ravi and others had moved the High Court after the Lokayukta court summoned them to appear before it on July two.

Lokayukta Special Court judge N K Sudhindra Rao had rejected the report absolving them, filed twice by Lokayukta police.
