Give us our spoofs, please!
The Capital is set to see its first spoofs-only film festival. Filmbooth, a Delhi-based short film organisation, has announced ‘Spoofhmania’- an international-scale annual film festival to celebrate innovative spoof cinema by crazy, lunatic, irreverent artistes and enthusiasts. It is slated to be held later this year.
A significant highlight of the festival is the idea of raising funds from film freaks to kick start the ‘Spoof Revolution.’
Its Filmbooth’s true testing in its fan space – Delhi to garner enough curiosity and amusement to support their new initiative. The festival creates a unique platform for some of the most entertaining and creative spoof cinema produced worldwide to be
exhibited in Delhi.
Crowd funding is a relatively recent concept in India as compared to its prominence in the US. In an effort to create India’s first-of–it’s- kind ‘Spoof Festival,’ Filmbooth has partnered with wishberry.in to create a platform for gaining contributions from its prospective enthusiasts.
Mohak, Co-Founder, of the organisation shares, “India is a country of tremendous potential when it comes to spoofing stuff. There’s no dearth of subjects – take our youth icons, TV shows and celebrities for instance; and yet, we have been deprived of quality spoofs till now.”
The Western world has been home to some good spoofs but we have waited many years for a full-fledged spoof film and now we have stopped waiting. ‘Spoofhmania’ is here to fill this void and what better than short films which in itself is a powerful medium.”
Speaking about crowd funding, Gaurav Raturi, Co-Founder, Filmbooth states, “We are trying to create a platform for niche artistes and filmmakers. Crowdfunding enables creative freedom, innovation and also familiarises one with the whole community of similarly passionate people. Ideas which are rejected mostly by sponsors as crazy and risky can take shape through this medium. We aim to co-produce a package of high quality short films which will travel to festivals, platforms and multiplexes.”
“Crowd funding brings in fan engagement, marketing, and collaborations,” concludes Anshulika of Wishberry. For more details log in at www.filmbooth.in/spoofhmania.
