JEE-Advance test on June 2, Main on April 7

NEW DELHI, Augsut 28, 2012, DHNS:

The JEE-Advance test, for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), is likely to be held on June 2 next year.

The JEE-Main, meant for admission to other centrally funded technical institutions, including the National Institutes of Technology, is likely to be held on April 7 next year, said sources in
the Human Resource Development Ministry.

The tentative dates for the two tests under the proposed joint entrance examination (JEE) was discussed at a recent meeting of the Joint Admission Board of IITs and the Central Board of Secondary Education.

“As of now, the date for holding JEE-Advance is June 2. But, this could be preponed, if the result of the JEE-Main comes early,” a member of the Joint Admission Board told Deccan Herald. The JEE-Advance will be conducted in two shifts on the same day. The question pattern will be the same as that of IIT-JEE in last few years. Candidates will be required to answer a mix of subjective and objective questions and the duration of each paper will be three hours.
