Test gets big thumbs-up from B'lore

After the Hyderabad crowd sent out encouraging signs for Test cricket, thronging the Uppal stadium in huge numbers during the first Test, Bangalore witnessed an even healthier sight for the longest format of the game on the second day of the final Test here at the Chinnaswamy stadium.

As the match progressed, an impressive crowd of around 30,000, the capacity of the stadium being 35000, converged to witness the action on a day when Indian batsmen staged a fine comeback. While day one saw a good crowd, day two – being a Saturday – made for a refreshing sight.

Celebrities made their presence felt, Mexican waves were formed and of course the ear-splitting noise. It was a Saturday worth remembering.

The policemen, however, would hope Sunday won’t be as tedious. The six ticketing counters -- all located on the ever-busy Queen’s Road -- saw a flood of people queue up to pick up their tickets, forcing the policemen swing into action.

An official from KyaZoonga, the ticketing partners for the Test, said that they weren’t expecting such a big crowd.

“The normal process would’ve caused a lot more commotion. This new real-time ticketing system is effectively reducing traffic at the counters. Tomorrow is going to be another hectic day with most of the tickets already sold out,” added the official.
