<p>The National Council of Educational Research and Training is in the process of preparing a source book of guidelines and conducting teachers training programmes to bring more clarity on Comprehensive Continuous Evaluation, said officials during an open house session at the 52nd foundation day of NCERT on Saturday.<br /><br /></p>.<p>“The content for the source book will be finalised within six months and we will release the book by next year. It is important for teachers to understand the value of CCE to help students understand it,” said NCERT member Professor Manju Jain. <br /><br />“NCERT is now the nodal agency for the implementation of CCE,” added Jain. <br /><br />Orientation programmes <br /><br />The council is also planning to hold orientation programmes for parents to clear their doubts regarding Comprehensive Continuous Evaluation to “fill major gaps in the system.”<br /><br />Several teachers and students who attended the foundation day ceremony, asked questions related to CCE, NCERT books and methods of teachings among others. <br /><br />Children and teachers from Municipal Corporation of Delhi run-schools raised concerns over no definitions given in NCERT books at the primary levels. <br /><br />“I have to refer to five other books to make children learn different definitions as NCERT books do not have a single definition,” said a teacher from an MCD school in Delhi.<br /><br />Professor Gauri Srivasatava, another NCERT member said the definitions have not been included in NCERT books on purpose. <br /><br />“This will help children construct their own ideas and definitions with their own understanding. We have to let children explore outside text books,” she said.<br /><br />Council members further sensitised visitors on other issues related to Right to Education Act, importance of educating the girl child, inclusive education, adolescent health education, stress among schoolchildren, Science and Mathematics education. <br /><br /> Along with the open session several cultural programs like film shows, puppet shows, street play, role play, quiz, painting competition and folk dance were held for children. <br /><br />More than 3,000 children, parents, teachers, and teacher-educators gathered on the occasion at the NCERT campus.<br /><br />Children were also taken to the science park and science laboratories. <br /><br />The council also displayed its publications and science kits.<br /></p>
