A day after a 70-year-old woman was found stabbed to death inside her New Moti Nagar house, Delhi Police are still groping in the dark.

Sheila Vanti, was alone at the house when the attack took place.

She was found in her bedroom with stab injuries on her chest, abdomen and neck.

“Initial inquiry suggests that the killer was known to the woman and robbery was not motive behind the murder as victim’s jewellery and other valuables were found intact,” said V Renganathan, additional commissioner of police (west).

“No concrete clue is found yet which can clarify the identity of the culprit,” he added.

Police have been probing the case from all angles and questioning people who were in touch with the victim’s family.

Sheila’s son Vinod and his wife had left for their offices around 10 am. Around 2.45 pm, Vinod returned home and found the door of the house open.

While some articles in the room had been misplaced, Sheila’s bangles, necklace and earrings were intact. Nothing was taken from the cupboard.

A case of murder has been registered at Moti Nagar police station.
