Prez awards for 16 State teachers

President Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday pitched for application of new technologies in the development of curriculum at all stages of education to improve its quality.

He was addressing a function organised by the the Human Resource Development Ministry to mark the Teacher’s Day. On the occasion, a total of 310 teachers from different parts of the country were conferred national awards for their outstanding contribution in the field. Sixteen teachers from Karnataka were among the awardees.

Speaking on the occasion, Human Resources Minister Kapil Sibal said his Ministry would launch a national mission for teachers’ education and training in the 12th five-year-plan.
For the first time, 20 other teachers were also given national awards for their contribution in promotion of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the school education for the years 2010 and 2011.

Teachers from Karnataka who received National Awards on Wednesday included: Bheemappa Ramappa Barki, Assistant Teacher, Government Kannada Lower Primary school, Hombali, Hangal taluk of Haveri district; B M Hanumanthappa, Head Master, Government Model Higher Primary School, M C Halli, Malur Taluk, Kolar; Bhadraiah, Head Master, Government Primary School, Hunasemaranahalli, Devanahalli, Bangalore; Gowdaiah, Head Master, Government Higher Primary School, Shettanyakanahalli, Bogadi Cluster, Mysore; Dr Ramappa Basavantappa Moolagi, Assistant Master, Smt Shivalingamma Shankaragouda Balanagoudar Government Primary School, Hubli, Dharwad; T K Nagesh, Head Master, Government Higher Primary School, Hampapura K R Nagar Taluk, Mysore; Gopal Naik, Head Master, Government Model Higher Primary School, Holalur, Shimoga;  Abaji Narayan Dalavi, Head Master, Government Primary Marathi School, Manturge Taluk, Khanapur, Belgaum; S N Bellary, Head master, Government Model Kannada Boys School No.10, Gadag; C L Chandrashekara, Assistant master, Government High School, MG Koppalu ,Mysore Taluk, Mysore; S U Rathod, Assistant Master, Bangalore Higher Secondary School, RV Road, Basavangudi, Bangalore; Kudi Vasantha Shetty, Head Master, Vishnumoorthy High School, Kodibettu Kudi-82, Udupi; Gouravva Shivayya Talikotimath, Assistant Teacher, Government High School, Mekalamardi, Bailhongal Taluk, Belgaum; Lobsang Dolma, Primary Teacher, Central School for Tibetans, CVP, Bylakuppe, Mysore; Asha Raj, Primary Teacher, Kendriya Vidyalaya Hebbal, C V Raman Avenue, Sadashivanagar, Bangalore and K N Suryanarayana, Trained Graduate Teacher, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Malleshwaram,18th Cross, Bangalore.
