JOIN USPadmini M G of Surana College completed a treble on the concluding day of the 48th Bangalore University Inter-Collegiate Athletics Championships at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium here on Friday.
The 20-year-old won the women’s 200 metres and featured in her team’s triumph in the 4x100M relay events to add to her gold-medal in the 400M on Thursday.
Padmini held off the challenge of college-mate Rebecca Jose to win the 200M in 25.5 seconds. She was adjudged as the best woman athlete of the meet while Chethan B of Government First Grade College, KR Puram, took home the honours in the men’s section.
“I am very happy to have won three gold and the best athlete award. I am back in form and looking forward to the All-India Inter-University Championships to be held in Kolkata in December,” said Padmini.
Earlier, Manjula R of SEA College set the lone record of the day with a time of 35:32:01 in the women’s 5km walk. She broke the mark of Poornima N (35:43.80) of Govt Women’s College, Kolar, set in 2011.
Al-Ameen won the men’s title for the 27th time with a total of 80 points. St Joseph’s College of Commerce (44) pipped Surana College (43) to clinch the women’s team title.
