Al-Ameen emerge champions

Al- Ameen College overcame St Joseph’s College of Commerce (SJCC) 5-4 in penalty shootout to clinch the crown in the Jain University College Football League (CFL) at the Bangalore Football stadium on Monday.

Both teams failed to break the deadlock after the regulation time of 90 minutes as the title had to be decided by the spotkicks.

For Al-Ameen, Suhas SN, Mithesh Neyyar, Wesley George, NS Raghavendra and Nikhil Das converted from the spot.

Al-Ameen had their chances to finish off the game in regulation time but struggled to finish with as many as four opportunities going abegging. Wesley George missed two chances while Mohammad Abrar and Nikhil Das failed to score once each.  

Al Ameen captain NS Raghavendra was happy with the team’s performance. “We had planned very well, the preparation was good. I am glad we were able to come through in the shootout,’’ he added.

Result:

Final: Al-Ameen College: 5 bt St Joseph’s College of Commerce: 4 (via tie-breaker). FT: 0-0.
Semifinals: Al-Ameen College: 5 bt BMSCE: 4 (via tie-breaker). FT: 0-0; SJCC: 1 (Shariq) bt Jain Engineering College: 0.
