JOIN US Princess Adelah Bint Abdullah al-Saud, daughter of Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz al-Saud, today concluded her six-day visit to India.
Princess Adelah, who is also the chairperson of Saudi Heritage Preservation Society and National Museum Advisory Board, along with a 12-member delegation was visiting the country on the invitation of Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).
The visit was a part of the "Distinguished Visitors Programme" 2012-13, official sources said.
During her stay, the princess met Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, ICCR President Karan Singh, HRD Minister Kapil Sibal, Minister of State for Tourism Sultan Ahmed, and discussed matters of mutual interests.
She also met with representatives of institutions in the field of Art and Culture and got herself acquainted with India's long experience in the field of antiquities and museum, they said.
The Princess, during her meetings with the officials at National Museum, Archaeological Survey of India and INTACH, expressed her interest in education and training for art conservation and restoration of artifacts, heritage sites including exhibition and display, classification and documentation of antiquities and its upkeep in museum.
A supporter of constructive initiatives in Saudi society dealing with health, social issues, women empowerment, culture and heritage, the Princess visited the Taj Mahal before leaving for Riyadh, they said.
