Skin disease drives girl to suicide

A 19-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide, depressed that she was suffering from psoriasis (a skin disease) at Subramanyanagar on Sunday night.

B Com student at the Maharani's College, was suffering from the disease for the past nine years. On Sunday, when her mother and brother had been to her grandmother's place, Sadhana hanged herself to death from the ceiling fan in the bedroom.

Her father Arulanandan, a retired bank employee, returned home from his native place at night. He grew suspicious when the girl did not open the door and informed the police. The police rushed to the spot and broke open the door, only to find her hanging dead.

Two arrested

The City police on Monday, have arrested Basavaraj, 27, and Gunashekar, 28, for allegedly murdering thier friend. Police said the duo confessed to bludgeoning Alexander alias Alex to death on Saturday.

Alex, Basavaraj and Gunashekar used to take up menial jobs and were also involved in petty crimes. On Friday night, the two called Alex for a booze party and took him to a secluded place at the Munichinnappa Government School grounds, hit his head with beer bottles and bludgeoned him to death with a cement brick, said police.
