Raghav shock for fancied Akshay

Raghav Jaisinghani shocked top seeded IB Akshay 6-2, 6-3 in the second round of under-16 boys’ singles event in Fenesta National tennis championship at the DLTA complex on Tuesday.

Second seed Vishnu B Prasad, too, was stretched by Kushan Nath before eking out a 6-2, 3-6, 7-5 win.

Ninth-seed Raswant Ravi was taken out by Dalwinder Singh with a 6-4, 6-1 victory.
In the girls’ under-16 category, Snehal Umesh Mane rallied to stun third-seeded Karman Kaur Thandi 1-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-5).

The other top seeds in the same category had a smooth sailing to the third round. Top-seeded S Sneha Devi swept aside Jahnvi Gupta 6-1, 6-0 win while second-seeded Pranjalla Yadlapalli showed the door to Sama Sathvika 6-2, 6-0. Fourth and fifth seeds Akshara Iska and Himani Mor also made it to the third round.

In the boys’ under-14 section, top seed BR Nikshep had it easy against Rian Randole 6-1, 6-2, while second, third and fourth seeds entered the next round. Nitin Kumar Sinha won without a challenge from Shramay Dhawan 6-1, 6-1 and Aryan Goves beat Sumit Pal Singh 6-2, 6-3 while Paramveer Singh Bajwa rode on a 6-2, 6-1 win over PC Anirudh for a place in the next stage.

In the corresponding girls’ category, top seeded Sruta Kriti Gunuganti decimated Sama Sathvika 6-1, 6-1 while second-seeded Himani beat Sabhyata Nihalani 6-1, 6-1. Vanshika Sawhney, seeded third, showed the door to Neeru 6-0, 6-1.
