With the victory, BSNL end the first phase of their league campaign with 12 points and have been assured of a place in the second phase which starts on October 22.

KSP remain on three points with two games ahead of them against ASC and LIC.
BSNL had no problems in the first set with the experienced Ravi Kumar and Anoop D’costa combining well. KSP struggled to deal with the tactics employed by the duo as they lost the set 25-17.

In the second set, BSNL continued their good work with Sujith Acharya joining forces with Ravi and Anoop to torment the Cops.

Anoop used his reach to good effect to land smashes while Ravi employed drop shots nicely, catching the KSP defence off-guard on occasions.

Sujith was in good nick at the net, , as BSNL took a 14-12 lead. KSP launched a fightback through Nagesh M V and captain Ramesh D Kanavi to level scores at 19-19.
However, BSNL broke away through good play from Anoop and Sujith to take the set 26-24.

With the momentum with them, BSNL raced to a 17-14 lead in the third set. Raghu Prasad-coached side then closed out the tie 25-22. The second match between Madras Engineers Group and South Western Railway was abandoned due to rain after the latter clinched the first two sets 25-23, 25-22. The game will be re-played on October 20.
