Bhuvneshwar lifts Central

Last Updated 16 October 2012, 19:19 IST

Uttar Pradesh all-rounder Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s gutsy century helped Central Zone stage an incredible comeback as they were 10 runs shy of taking the all-important first innings lead against North Zone in the Duleep Trophy semifinal, here on Tuesday.

After North scored a commendable 451, Central riding on Bhuvneshwar’s unbeaten 120 (225 b, 12x4, 3x6) are tantalisingly close at 442 for nine. In fact, the 10th wicket partnership between Bhuvneshwar and Rituraj has yielded an astonishing 100 runs  in less than 22 overs.  Bhuvneshwar’s innings is no mean achievement considering he batted with the tail for a large part.
