Celebrate Dasara with 'Deccan Herald '

Nada Habba Dasara is here and the city looks like a fairyland in the evenings with light decorations everywhere.

To celebrate this once-in-a-year event, Deccan Herald joins hands with its readers by conducting several competitions.

To begin with there is quiz competition, the answers to which will be published on the last day of Dasara. You can also win prizes by entering the doll show contest. There is dance competition for the college students and drawing and painting competition for schoolchildren.

Doll show

It is a tradition in Mysore to arrange dolls in houses during Dasara. Those interested in participating should send a photograph of the arrangement along with a description to the office. Your address and telephone number should also be included. The judges will visit your home and view the dolls on display. If your display is good then you have a chance of winning a prize.

Group dance

This competition has been arranged for college students. A five member troupe can participate. To register your names in the Deccan Herald office you must carry identity card as proof. Watch out for the day of the competition which will be published in the newspaper.

Drawing competition

A drawing competition has been organised for schoolchildren studying between fourth to seventh standard and eighth to tenth standard. An on the spot drawing competition will be organised. The competition will be held at Ramakrishna Institute of Spiritual and Moral Education in Yadavagiri on October 21 at 10 am.

Quiz contest

The quiz contest is being published in Deccan Herald from October 17 to October 23. The answers should be filled in the application form itself and sent. The names of those who give the correct answers will be picked and published. The photocopies of the coupons will not be entertained.

The coupon boxes will be kept in the following places- Shivananda Medicals in JP Nagar, GTR Hotel in Chamundipuram, Sri Gowrishankar Book Depot near small Clock Tower, Nandini Milk Parlour in Hootagalli, Stop N Shop in Saraswathipuram, Eshwar Enterprises in Kamakshi Hospital, Sandeep Stationery in Kuvempunagar, Santosh Stall in Vontikoppal, Pramila General Store in Kuvempunagar, Nagashankar Petrol Bunk near Vijaynagar, SMK Travels opposite Saraswathi Theatre and Aishwaraya Petrol Bunk on Hunsur Road.
