KSRTC depot staff in the taluk continued their stir for the second day on Saturday, demanding action against the depot manager Hanumatharayappa.

Protesters demanded that Hanumantharayappa, who was accused of harassing the staff especially women, be transferred and halted the bus services.

Led by the CITU, protesters said that, “Hanumantharayappa tries to hararss women sexually and does not sanction leave for the men working in the depot. It is not enough if he is transferred, immediate action should be taken against him,” they said.

Speaking on the occasion, CITU leader Siddagangappa said that, “The government should take action on senior officers, who hararss junior staff. Those who work honestly are also harassed, which is not right.”

Reacting to the situation, MLA N H Shivashankara Reddy, who came to the protest venue said that, “Strict action will be taken against the guilty officer. We will pressurise the government to take necessary action.”

Zilla Panchayat president C R Narasimhamurthy and JD(S) Womens’ Unit president Jyothi Reddy were present.
