<p>Two policemen were injured and 20 men were arrested following a clash between two communities over the alleged slaughter of cow for the Bakrid festival, at Kakati alley in the City on Saturday.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The City found itself in the grip of tension after news of a bovine sacrifice, to be followed by a second cow which was being readied for butchering spread by noon.<br /><br />The police had to resort to mild lathi charge to disperse the crowd and to bring the situation under control.<br /><br />Abrupt violence<br /><br />Soon after, however, people from one community began to hurl stones at Khanjar alley. In the incident, DySP Muthuraj and DySP Ravikumar were injured. Later, a team led by Superintendent of Police Sandeep Patil arrested the miscreants.<br /><br />Superintendent of Police Sandeep Patil told Deccan Herald that there was no confirmation of a cow being slaughtered in the City. However, a cow has been recovered and its details are being verified.<br /><br />Though arrests were made shopowners in Kakati, Shanivara Koota, Khade Bazaar, Darbar and Ganapatigalli downed shutters and the areas bore a deserted look.<br /></p>
