Armyman held for raping Delhi Police constable
Weds her concealing his first marriage
Anil Yadav was arrested after the victim registered a case with Subhash Place police station on Thursday, said a senior police officer.
The victim, posted with Moti Nagar police station in west Delhi, told police in her complaint that she met Yadav on a train when she was travelling from Haryana’s Rohtak district to Delhi in March last year. They developed a relationship and Yadav, posted then in Punjab’s Faridkot district, often came to Delhi to meet at her home.
Yadav, police said, had sexual relations with the constable and later married her in a temple at Ghaziabad this year — without informing her that he was already married and has a daughter in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore district.
After the marriage, Yadav stayed at the victim’s home in Saraswati Vihar in north Delhi for a month. He convinced the policewoman to hand over her jewellery worth Rs 3 lakh to him, so that he could keep it in a safe place.
Yadav went to his hometown and again came back to Delhi to stay with her for a few days. When she asked him for her ear-rings, Yadav refused. Instead, he gave her a Rs 2 lakh post-dated cheque and asked her to buy other jewellery. He immediately left for Faridkot, saying he had to join back as his leave had ended.
After two days, the policewoman tried to contact Yadav over the phone but failed. She then checked with Army officers in Delhi, trying to find out more about him.
Last month, she finally traced Yadav and found that he was already married and has a child. She spoke to Yadav and his family, but was allegedly threatened. Yadav rubbished her claim that he had married her.
Fed up with her frequent calls, Yadav came to Delhi on Thursday and threatened her with dire consequences. He allegedly tried to force her into having sex. The victim called police control room for help, but by the time police arrived Yadav had fled.
After an investigation, Yadav was arrested in Delhi on Saturday.
