Last Updated 31 October 2012, 20:01 IST

Three persons were killed and another was injured when the truck they were travelling in fell off a flyover near Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in the wee hours of Wednesday.

Truck driver Prempal, 28, helper Vishal, 25, and Manoj, 25, were killed while 14-year-old Devender is undergoing treatment at Lok Nayak Hospital.
They hailed from Haryana, and had come to Delhi to ferry apples from Azadpur Mandi.

“They were going towards Sarai Kale Khan bus terminal when the accident happened around 3 am,” a police official said.
A passerby called the police control room, following which a police team came. They found that a truck had broken through the flyover’s railings and had fallen 30 metres down.

“The vehicle was badly damaged and apples were scattered all over the spot,” the official said.

The victims were taken to Lok Nayak Hospital, where Prempal, Vishal and Manoj were declared brought dead.

“Devender was discharged after treatment,” the official added.
Police said the driver, Prempal, lost control due to speeding, and have ruled out drunk driving.

The sequence of events is yet to be ascertained due to absence of any witness.
A case of rash driving and causing death by negligence has been lodged with Indraprastha Estate police station.

Crushed to death

In another accident, a 38-year-old man was crushed to death by a speeding car in Dwarka.
Ajay, a resident of Dwarka Sector 16, was crossing a road when a speeding Maruti WagonR car hit him late on Tuesday, said a police official.
He succumbed to injuries before receiving medical aid.
