Goods train derails, rail traffic affected

Rail traffic remained hit for hours on the busy Delhi-Agra rail route due to derailment of a goods train near Palwal in Haryana in the wee hours on Wednesday.

While the services of more than a dozen trains were affected due to the derailment, nobody was injured in the incident, railway officials said.|

“A wagon and engine of a goods train derailed near Palwal following which some trains were cancelled, while few were diverted,” Northern Railway spokesperson Neeraj Sharma said. Rail traffic was restored by 11 am, he added.

Five trains — Ferozpur-Mumbai Express, Amritsar-Bilaspur Chatisgarh Express, Amritsar-Mumbai Golden Temple Express, Sriganganagar-Howrah Udhya Abha Express and Hazrat Nizamuddin-Vishakhapattnam Swaran Jayanti Express — were diverted towards Ghaziabad-
Tundla-Agra section.

Similalry, six trains, including Agra-Palwal passenger and Mathura-Ghaziabad passenger, were cancelled.

Timings of six trains, including Niazamuddin-Coimbator Express and Nizamuddin-Yashwantpur Karnataka Express, were also rescheduled.
