Odafa hat-trick floors Sporting
The Nigerian goal machine gave Mohun Bagan a 16th minute lead through a brilliant free-kick and doubled the lead in the 42nd minute to seethem go 2-0 up at interval.
Odafa stamped his class with a fine finishing to complete his hat-trick in the 56th minute that handed Bagan their second successive I-League win.
The Bagan defence caved in at the dying moments as Sporting Clube de Goa pulled one back through Joseph Pereira. Bagan improved their tally to six points from four matches, while Sporting remained on four.
Air India win
M Pradeep struck twice as Air India registered their first full points in this season’s I-League with a 4-2 win over ONGC at Ambedkar Stadium.
Pradeep struck in the third and 15th minute while Prakash Thorat scored the other in the 43rd minute. In the second half, the Oilmen pulled two back within a span of two minutes through Kenistan (72nd) and Sachin Gawas (73rd).
But Air India sealed the match in the 88th minute when Lepcha tapped it in off a Vijith Shetty corner.
Meanwhile, in Shillong, Shillong Lajong defeated Prayag United 3-2 at the JN Stadium.
With this win, Lajong and Prayag United have seven points in their kitty, three points behind table toppers Dempo FC.
Friday Gbeneme struck a brace for Lajong in the 22nd and 42nd minute while substitute Boithang Hoakip scored the winning goal in the 68th minute. Ranty Martins (4th, 28th) scored the goals for Prayag.
Churchill Brothers were spurred to a 1-0 win over Pune FC by Roberto Mendes Da Silva’s goal in the second minute of stoppage time at the Sree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Pune.
In Gangtok, hosts United Sikkim played out a goalless draw with Pailan Arrows.
