Varun, Muskaan claim under-14 crowns

Bangalore, Nov 9, 2012, DHNS:

Varun Venkat and Muskaan Ranjan clinched the U-14 boys’ and girls’ singles titles respectively in the AITA tennis tournament at the Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association (KSLTA) stadium on Friday.

Varun registered a hard-fought 6-7 (3-7), 6-3, 6-4 victory over Siddarth N Gowda in the boys’ final while Muskaan had it rather easy in the girls’ summit clash.

She defeated Amineni Shivani 6-4, 6-0.
In the boys’ U-12 final, Surya Elangovan put it past Nama Heman 6-2, 6-1 to pocket the title while in the corresponding girls’ match Amineni Shivani, made up for the disappointment of losing the under-14 final.

She posted a 6-4, 6-4 win over Annika Kannan.


Results (all finals): Boys: U-14: Varun Venkat bt Siddharth N Gowda 6-7 (3-7), 6-3, 6-4.
U-12: Surya Elangovan bt Nama Heman 6-2, 6-1.
Girls: U-14: Muskaan Ranjan bt Amineni Shivani 6-4, 6-0.
U-12: Amineni Shivani bt Annika Kannan 6-4, 6-4.
