Dempo SC, United score

Dempo Sports Club regained their place at the top with 4-1 victory over Shillong Lajong Football Club in a fifth round I-League tie at the Nehru Stadium, Fatorda, on Saturday.

A brace from Ryuji Sueoka, including a penalty, and one each from Clifford Miranda and Anthony Pereira were enough to take Dempo’s points tally to 13 and place them ahead of Churchill Brothers (12). Jibon Singh scored for Shillong.

In Kolkata, Ranty Martins pumped in five goals as United SC toyed with United Sikkim FC defence for a 10-1 win.

Carlos Hernandez (2), Malswam Tulunga and Mohammad Rafique scored the other goals while Michael Rodrigues  netted an own goal to complete the goal glut. The Sikkim outfit scored through Nima Tamang.

In another match, East Bengal blanked Air India 3-0 with goals from Harmanjoth (37th, 64th) and Penn Orji (75th).
