Last Updated 10 November 2012, 19:58 IST

Kannada activists from the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike and All Karnataka Catholic Christian Kannada Association, who took out a protest rally from Cantonment Railway Station, were arrested by the police and released later.

They were on their way to besiege the house of Archbishop Bernard Moraes to protest against the three-language policy adopted by the church. The activists demanded that the prayers be held in Kannada alone.

The police said the protesters had not sought permission from the City police to hold the rally.

They were taken to Shivajinagar Grounds and later released.
