Gang of 7 dacoits arrested

The Homicide and Burglary Wing of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) raided a premises at Kogile Layout on Tuesday and apprehended a gang of seven dacoits, who were hatching a plot to threaten, assault and rob lone commuters in the area.

Khaleem-Ullah-Khan, 38, Abdul Jameel, 22, Shakeel, 24, Irshad Khan, 28, Mansoor, 25, Syed Nadeem, 28 and Mehmood, 21, are the arrested. They are said to be the associates of slain corporator Diwan Ali.

The police have also seized lethal weapons and a bike from them.

Another suspect, Mohammed Qadir, escaped during the operation. Police sources say that Khaleem-Ullah-Khan is a rowdy in Shivajinagar and Banashankari police station limits.

Drug peddler arrested

The sleuths of the Women and Narcotics Wing of the CCB have arrested Fayaz Ahmed Rasul Sheikh, 41, a drug peddler and a resident of Koliwada in Mumbai.
He was wanted by the Gujarat and Mumbai police.

The Narcotic Control

Bureau, Ahmedabad Division, had arrested Ahmed in 2010, while he was selling a banned drug.

He complained of ill health and was admitted to a hospital in Bharuch district in
Gujarat on February 2.

He gave the police the slip and escaped from the hospital. Since then, the Gujarat police have been on the lookout for him across the country.

On a tip-off by the Narcotic Control Bureau, Ahmedabad Division and the Gujarat
Police, the CCB sleuths arrested Sheikh from a house in HSR Layout, where he was hiding for the past eight months.

Sheikh was produced before the jurisdictional magistrate court that remanded in judicial custody. He has now been handed over to the custody of the Bharuch police.
