Youth runs out of luck, lands in police net

 A 23-year-old youth, who had succeeded in hoodwinking the public after being caught for a theft attempt, has eventually landed in the police net on Friday.

Mahesha, a resident of Alanahalli, is the accused. He had made a vain bid to rob a woman on walk at Netaji Nagar recently. Mahesha, on the pretext of asking for a bus route, had approached Mamatha.

Mamatha was responding to his query, when Mahesha tried to yank off the gold chain she was wearing. Unfazed, Mamatha caught hold of him and also raised an alarm. The passersby, who rushed to her help tried to tighten their grip on Mahesha, but in vain. Mahesha succeeded in making his way.

Interestingly, what led to his arrest was the name and address given by him at the time of being caught by public. Acting on the same, investigators under disguise went to the address given to confirm the veracity of the information. They came to know that he had gone to his wife’s place in Uttanahalli, from where police picked him up later.

According to police, he had taken to crime to repay his loans. It was his maiden attempt in theft, but all went awry as stated by him.Nazarbad police have registered a case.

Man drowns"

A 35-year-old man had a fatal slip at a pond near Kumbarakoppal Gate under VV Puram police limits on Thursday. The deceased has been identified as Shivakumar of Kumbarakoppal. The body was retrieved on Friday. A case has been registered.
