The Special Lokayukta Court on Friday referred a complaint against H S Shankarlinge Gowda, BJP MLA from the Chamaraja Assembly Constituency, Mysore, to the Lokayukta police for investigation.

Judge N K Sudhindra Rao directed a probe under the Section 156 (3) of the Code of Criminal Procedure. The Lokayukta police has been directed to submit a report on November 23.

H Kumar, a Mysore-based activist, had filed a complaint that Gowda had amassed assets disproportionate to his known source of income. He had also said that Gowda had procured a ‘G’ Category site from the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) in HSR Layout.

After giving an undertaking that he will not sell the site until a period of 10 years, he had sold it within three months from the date of allotment, October 2003, he alleged.

The complainant also mentioned that the MLA was allotted a site by the Mysore Urban Development Authority in 1973 and, he had concealed this fact and had filed an affidavit with the BDA declaring that he did not own any government-allotted site.
