Haryana plans 24-hour power supply to industry, apartments

The Haryana Power Distribution Corporations plans to supply round the clock power through reliability feeders to industrial consumers and group housing societies in the state subject to meeting conditions.

The matter would be placed before the Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission shortly, an official spokesman quoted the Chairman and Managing Director of the corporation as saying.

Singh said this while talking to public representatives, the spokesman added. He said to avail this facility, the willing consumer or a group of consumers, fed through reliability feeders would be required to pay Rs 2 to Rs 2.50 extra per unit.

The exact amount would be decided as per HERC instructions. He said the discoms intend to supply more power to all categories of consumers daily. He also said the areas having minimum losses would be given extra power.

The rural feeders having 25 per cent or less losses would be supplied power on urban mode. The villages, interested in having power on urban mode, would be required to bring down the losses. The villages will be required to have 100 per cent connections and shift meters outside the consumer premises, he said. The Nigam would increase supply hours in proportion to reduction of losses on that particular feeder.
