‘Alva’s Nudisiri 2012’ witnessed an emotional moment on Saturday afternoon when Alva’s Education Foundation Chairman Dr M Mohan Alva shared few memorable moments which were spent with his ‘Guru’ and former minister Late Dr V S Acharya.

Terming Dr Acharya as one among the very few uncorrupt and unselfish politicians who kept their mobile ‘on’ always for needy, he said that Acharya was a gentleman in real sense who had social concern. Recalling how he got permission to start medical college, he said: Once when Acharya was checking old files, he found a letter written by Alva requesting permission to start a medical college in Moodbidri. “Soon he called me and asked to send the details. Within few days he sanctioned the medical college and requested to offer free education for 4 to 5 students,” Mohan Alva remembered.

Stating that Acharya was known for value based politics, he said that unfortunately many felt that Acharya was not a suitable candidate for the post of home minister, though he knew every step of politics. “During his era as the minister, Udupi district had got more than Rs 1,000 crore for various development works,” Mohan Alva added.
