Dengue continues, 39 more cases reported

Municipal corporations reported 39 new dengue cases in Delhi. Total number of affected persons this year has, thus, reached 1,697.

Out of these, 1,685 dengue cases have been reported from Delhi itself and 12 persons, who have so far been tested positive, belong to outside, according to official figures.
Municipal corporations have confirmed that four people, including three children and a pregnant woman, have so far succumbed to dengue ever since the deadly disease started spreading here early last month.

The children were one, nine and eleven year old girls, while the pregnant woman, whose baby could also not be saved, was 29-year-old.

South Delhi Municipal Corporation has reported the maximum number of 648 cases, while 560 cases were detected from areas under the jurisdiction of North Corporation and 420 from areas under the East Corporation. Other such cases have been reported from New Delhi Municipal Council and Delhi cantonment areas.

In 2011, a total of 837 cases were reported along with five deaths while in 2010, a total of 5,682 dengue cases and eight deaths were recorded in the Capital.
