Mazhar Ali, who hails from Rampur in Uttar Pradesh, was arrested at Sultanpur in outer Delhi on Saturday following a tip-off, said deputy commissioner of police (crime) S B S Tyagi.

Police have recovered 300 gm of fine quality heroin worth Rs 30 lakh from him.
“We received information that Mazhar Ali is indulging in sale and supply of heroin in Sultanpuri and he would be coming there on Saturday morning. We laid a trap and arrested him,” said Tyagi.

Poverty

During interrogation, he told police that due to poverty he could not go to school and worked as a casual labour in Rampur.

He married Ruksana about 30 years ago and came to Delhi in search of work.
He was blessed with four sons and one daughter but his eldest son Sahid was killed in 2003 due to enmity.

About 20 year ago he fell in bad company and became a drug addict.
To meet his expenses of addiction he started supplying heroin in large quantity.

Later his family joined him in the drug business. His eldest son Rashid was also arrested by Narcotics Cell and was convicted in this case. Rashid was also involved in four more cases of hurt.

Even Mazhar Ali was also earlier arrested earlier for drug trafficking and convicted in this case.
